Instagram Grid Maker
Split one photo into 3, 6 or 9 square posts for your Instagram profile
How it works
- 1Upload one wide or square image.
- 2Pick a 3 × 1, 3 × 2 or 3 × 3 grid and move the crop until it looks right.
- 3Download the tiles as a ZIP and post them in number order (1 first).
Split one image into a grid of square posts that join up into a single big picture on your Instagram profile. Choose a 3 × 1, 3 × 2 or 3 × 3 grid, slide the crop to frame it, check the preview, and download every tile in one ZIP, numbered in the order to post them. It runs in your browser, free, with no account needed.
How an Instagram Puzzle Grid Works
Your profile shows posts three across. If you cut one image into pieces and post them in the right order, the pieces sit side by side and form one large picture — often called a puzzle grid or giant square. It is a simple way to announce a launch, show a wide landscape or make a profile stand out.
Pick the grid that suits your picture: a wide panorama works as a single row of three, while a square photo fills a 3 × 3 grid. Because the image is cropped to the grid's shape, the crop position slider lets you keep the most important part in view. The numbers on the preview are the posting order — tile 1 first.
Keep faces, logos and text away from the edges of each tile: the profile grid shows posts as slightly taller thumbnails, which trims a sliver from the sides, and each post is also seen on its own in the feed.

Frequently Asked Questions
In what order do I post the tiles?
Post them in number order, starting with tile 1. Instagram shows your newest post first, so tile 1 ends up bottom-right and the last tile you post appears top-left, completing the picture. The ZIP file names start with the posting number, and the preview shows the same numbers.
Which grid size should I pick?
3 × 1 makes one wide row of three posts and suits panoramas. 3 × 2 makes six posts. 3 × 3 makes nine posts and gives the biggest picture on your profile. The image is cropped to the grid shape (3:1, 3:2 or square); use the crop position slider to choose which part is kept.
Will the grid line up perfectly on my profile?
The tiles are cut so they meet exactly when shown as squares. Instagram’s profile grid now shows posts as taller 3:4 thumbnails, which trims a little from the left and right of each square post, so keep faces and text away from the tile edges. Posting anything else in between also shifts the grid.
What size are the tiles?
Each tile is square and as large as your image allows, up to 1080 × 1080 pixels, which is Instagram’s standard size for square posts. Tiles are saved as high-quality JPGs.
Do I need an account, and is my image uploaded?
No account and no credits are needed, and the splitting happens in your browser, so the image stays on your device. It is only uploaded if you choose Edit in Editor while signed in, which saves it to your own Uploads.
